Free Lecture Thursday Night On Piscataway Utopia

PISCATAWAY, NJ — Few people know that Piscataway was home to a utopian experiment, the Ferrer Colony and the associated Modern School, in the early 1900s.

The longest-lasting anarchist colony in American was located next to what became the Livingston campus of Rutgers University. The Modern School, which was associated with the Colony, was a notable example of a democratic school.

On Thursday, January 24 at 7:00 p.m., join the members of the New Brunswick Historical Society for a presentation by Dr. Fernanda Perrone on these utopian experiments. The meeting will be in the Henry Guest House, 58 Livingston Avenue, next to the New Brunswick Free Public Library. Admission is free, all welcome.
