Woman Killed in Route 9 Crash in Middlesex County Monday
A tractor-trailer struck the rear of the vehicle the victim was driving.
AÂ 50-year-old woman from Freehold was killed when her car was struck by aÂ
tractor-trailer on Route 9 in Old Bridge, Middlesex County Acting Prosecutor Andrew C. Carey and Chief William Volkert of the Old Bridge Police Department announced Tuesday.
Heidi Bennett, 50, of Freehold was identified as the victim of theÂ
crash, which occurred in a southbound lane of Route 9 at the Old Mill RoadÂ
intersection in Old Bridge on Monday at 12:33 p.m.
The car driven by Bennett, a 2002Â Hyundai Accent, was struck in the rear by the tractor-trailer, an investigation by the police agencies determined.
The cause of death has not been determined. The results of an autopsyÂ
by the Middlesex County Medical Examiner’s Office were not immediatelyÂ
available.
No charges have been filed, but the cause of the crash remains underÂ
investigation.
The accident closed the roadway for several hours Monday near Jake Brown Road and Perrine Road.Â
