Massive Fire Burns At New Brunswick Paper Recycling Plant: Report

Smoke from a large fire at a New Brunswick paper recycling plant could be seen for miles throughout Central New Jersey Monday afternoon.

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ — Smoke from a large fire at a New Brunswick paper recycling plant could be seen for miles throughout Central New Jersey late Monday afternoon.

The fire broke out just past 5 p.m. at the Colgate Paper Stock Recyclable Processing Facility in New Brunswick, according to NBC New York. The paper recycling plant is located off Industrial Drive just off Rt. 27 north.

Dramatic video from NBC 4 showed huge piles of paper burning and one firefighter was briefly hospitalized with minor burns, they reported. The fire was not contained until 8 p.m. Monday.

Many people driving home at about 5 p.m. Monday could see the large plumes of smoke billowing into the air.
