New Brunswick Man Connected To 48 Vehicle Burglaries, Cops Say

South Brunswick police arrested two young men who they say are connected to 48 motor vehicle burglaries in town.

South Brunswick detectives arrested Jermaine Robinson Jr., 21, of New Brunswick and Jerome Thomas, 19, of the Somerset section of Franklin, over the past two weeks.

They broke into vehicles along the Route 27 corridor in the Kendall Park and Kingston sections of South Brunswick, Franklin and North Brunswick.

“The break in the case came when detectives from the South Brunswick Police linked physical evidence from one of the crime scenes to one of the suspects,” police said. “Detectives also recovered video surveillance from a home linking the suspects to the crimes.”

The young men are connected to 48 burglaries that have occurred in town since mid-August. Electronics, jewelry, and cash were among the items stolen.

The young men broke into vehicles in residential developments during overnight hours.

One night, they broke into seven vehicles in the Highgate Manor development.

Robinson and Thomas were charged with numerous counts of burglary and theft. They were taken into custody with help from New Brunswick, North Brunswick and Franklin police.

Both men are were sent to the Middlesex County Adult Correction Center in North Brunswick.

Police are also looking for a third man, Jarred Robinson, 23, of Franklin.

He was connected to the case after police recovered a stolen vehicle on Springdale Road on Sept. 21.

Police also interrupted him as he broke into vehicles in Royal Oaks Apartment Complex on Sept. 24. He fled, but police recovered a bag from the scene that contained stolen electronics, clothing, and cash. Those items had been stolen that week.

Police have released a photograph of Jarred Robinson, who is about 5 feet 5 inches tall and weighs about 135 pounds.
