New Brunswick Multicultural Festival Nov. 2 At Library

There will be crafts, cultural displays, music, sampling of international foods, face painting and live dance performances. 11 - 3 p.m.

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ — All are invited to the New Brunswick multicultural festival on Saturday, Nov. 2 held at the New Brunswick free public library, 60 Livingston Avenue in New Brunswick, NJ 08901. The festival will go from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Come and enjoy what is described as a cultural extravaganza. There will be crafts, cultural displays, music, sampling of international foods, face painting and live dance performances.

Celebrations will include Samhain from Ireland, Burning of the Devil from Guatemala, Eid al Adha from Egypt, Diwali from India, All Saints' Day from Hungary and Poland, as well as Honduras, Day of the Dead from Mexico, Guy Fawkes Day from England, Hijra New Year from Morocco and the Obon Festival from Japan, plus more.

The celebration will begin at 11:00 a.m. with different crafts representing different cultures. They will have face painting, Henna, displays, presentations, music and dance from each culture. From 12:00 to 3:00 p.m., there will be music and dance performances by percussion performer Ujimma, Navrang Dance Academy, American Hungarian Foundation, Instrumental Music with Andean Flutes by Richie Olivera and La Sagrada Familia folk dance group from Holy Family Parish. Imam Alaa Ahmed, fromIslamic Center of South River, will be doing a presentation about Islam and Eid Al Adha.

In addition, a variety of international food and delicacies will be provided for sampling. Please come and join us for this wonderful,family-friendly community event, which is free and open to the public.

The food for this program has been generously donated by New Brunswick businesses including Gaby’s Bakery, Ay Caramba Seafood Restaurant and Fish market, Costa Chica Mexican Restaurant, Gambino’s Inn, Mollaga Indian Grill in North Brunswick and Saffron Fine Indian Cuisine of Bridgewater. Media sponsors are TV ASIA, and WRSU 88.7 FM Rutgers Radio.
