New Brunswick Police Investigate Attempted Kidnapping

A woman said she was walking on Easton Ave. Monday night when a man in a pick-up pointed a gun at her, and ordered her to get in.

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ — The New Brunswick Police Department is investigation an incident where a woman said she was almost kidnapped at gunpoint late Monday night.

The woman did not know the man, driving a pick-up truck, who pointed the handgun at her and demanded she get inside, said police.

This happened Monday night, Jan. 25: The adult woman told police she was walking along Easton Avenue, between Bristol and Prospect streets, when a red four-door pickup truck pulled up alongside her and the male driver demanded she get inside. The driver pointed a handgun at her while he demanded she get into his truck.

Police did not give a time of when this happened.

The woman fled and the red pick-up proceeded down Easton Avenue towards Somerset Street. No injuries were sustained.

The pick-up is described as a newer four-door pickup truck, possibly a Honda Ridgeline, said New Brunswick PD. The suspect driver is described as an older white man, possibly in his late 30s or early 40s.

Anyone with information is asked to call Detective Keith Walcott at (732) 745-5217. If anyone sees the suspect vehicle, they should NOT approach the vehicle, but call 911 or the New Brunswick Police Department main number at (732) 745-5200.
