"When Andrew LaVielle joined North Brunswick Township High School’s football program in 2017, he was introverted and had a kind disposition, but showed a tremendous desire to play," writes Dean Petrillo, the head coach at North Brunswick High School. "Even though LaVielle had minimal playing time, he was committed to his teammates and program; never missing a practice, meeting, or weight room session."

By the end of his junior season, Coach Petrillo began to notice a change in him: “Andrew had developed into a more assertive, confident, and outgoing kid with the hopes of starting varsity his senior year. As a result, Andrew gained 25 pounds and increased his strength tremendously.”

At this point in his senior season, LaVielle remains a non-starter, but continues to contribute to the betterment of the program, all while maintaining a 3.5 GPA, hosting spaghetti dinners and placing flags on soldiers’ gravesites every Memorial Day.
