Obituary: Dr. Marvin L. Barton Jr.

Dr. Marvin L. Barton Jr. maintained a private practice in Edison.

Dr. Marvin Leonard Barton, Jr., 67, an Edison physician and former New Brunswick resident, died Wednesday at JFK Medical Center, according to his obituary.

Born in Atlantic City, Barton formerly resided in New Brunswick and lived in Woodbridge. He was a physician for the city of Newark since 1990 and maintained a private practice in Edison, according to the obituary.

He was also a part of the ministerial staff at the House of Prayer, Church of God in Christ, in Orange and was a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. and the Allergy Society, according to the obituary.

"He was predeceased by his parents William E. and Margaret L. Barton, and a brother, Garnett. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, E. Sharon Barton; 3 children, Marvin Barton, Jr., (Daniyel), Maurice Barton and Kesha Hutton (Brandon); one grandson Christian Marren-Barton; 5 siblings William E. Barton, Jr. (Gwendolyn) Dority, Brenda Williams (Richard), Harriet Barton and Earnestine Randolph (Robert); and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins," the obituary said.

Funeral services were held Monday at the House of Prayer in Orange, and entombment followed at Franklin Memorial Park in North Brunswick.
