Police Search for Jersey Avenue Robbery Suspects

One person was shot in the finger after two men entered a Jersey Avenue home and demanded money, police say.

A man was shot in the finger last week following a robbery and home invasion on Jersey Avenue.

At 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 23, police responded to a report of a robbery at 14 Jersey Ave., where they found a 29-year-old man with a gunshot wound to one of his fingers, according to a press release from the New Brunswick Police Department.

The victim claimed that two men came into the house and demanded money of four people inside the house, including the victim.

One of the people in the house turned over cash and their cell phone, and the victim refused to give up anything, at which point one of the robbers fired a shot from a silver handgun, wounding the man, according to the release. 

The men were described as black males clad in dark clothing, wearing black masks, according to the release. The suspect wielding the gun was described as standing approximately 6'1 in height with a medium to heavy built, and the second suspect was approximately 5'6 in height with a medium build, according to the release. 

The victim was taken to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital and treated, according to the release.
