Possible Gunshots Reported Near New Brunswick School

New Brunswick High School was briefly placed on lockdown Monday; police later gave officials clearance to resume normal activity.

New Brunswick High School was briefly placed in a lockdown mode after a report of possible gunfire nearby, the district said.

“On September 28, 2015 New Brunswick High School was placed in a Lockdown as a result of possible gun shots in a rear area adjacent to the school” an alert from the district said.

Police determined there was no threat to the school, so the lockdown was changed to “shelter in place” status and classes continued.

At 9:25 a.m. police gave district officials clearance to lift the shelter in place, and all activities resumed at the school.

Police said they were not able to determine the source of the noise that was reported as possible gunshots.
