Rutgers Football Alum Devin McCourty Named to Pro Bowl

It's a bit of bright news for Rutgers football, which is being investigated by the NCAA it was revealed this week.

Rutgers football alum Devin McCourty was chosen for the 2017 Pro Bowl, the NFL announced this week. Devin McCourty currently plays as a free safety for the New England Patriots. McCourty grew up in Montvale, New Jersey and attended Saint Joseph Regional High School, where he was an all-league selection in his final two seasons. He received one scholarship offer, from Rutgers, and he started playing for the Scarlet Knights in 2005. His twin brother Jason McCourty was also on the RU football team. McCourty was drafted by the Patriots in the first round of the 2010 NFL Draft.

McCourty's selection comes as a welcome bit of happy news for Rutgers football fans. It was just revealed Tuesday that the Rutgers football program is being investigated by the NCAA for multiple possible violations. Some of the allegations include following improper recruiting practices and violating drug testing policy. It is also alleged that former Rutgers football coach Kyle Flood directly contacted a professor to seek special considerations for a member of the football team.
