Rutgers Honors MLK, Paul Robeson At Community Fair Monday
Held at Unity Square community center in New Brunswick, come for food, performances, mural painting and conversation for all ages.

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ — On Monday, Jan. 20, the Rutgers Collaborative Center for Community-Based Research and Service will co-host a day of activities honoring Martin Luther King Jr. and Paul Robeson.
This is a free community event and open to anyone to attend. Activities will include food, learning activities, performances, mural painting and conversation for all ages.
Robeson, the scholar, athlete, actor, singer and global activist, graduated from Rutgers in 1919. Coretta Scott King spoke at his 1973 funeral and noted that Robeson espoused civil rights and human dignity decades before her late husband.

When: 1 p.m. – 4 p.m. Monday, Jan. 20

What: A free day filled with food, learning activities, performances, mural painting and conversation for all ages. Educational activities, including a digital exhibit on King and Robeson, will emphasize the connections between the two civil rights leaders.
Rutgers' vice Chancellor for Diversity, Inclusion and Community Engagement Enobong (Anna) Branch will speak, as will New Brunswick Mayor Jim Cahill.
The event is sponsored by the Rutgers Collaborative Center for Community-Based Research and Service; Unity Square/Catholic Charities, Diocese of Metuchen; and the City of New Brunswick.
