Rutgers Students Get Stopped By Cops While Street-Skiing In Storm

While you were huddled inside Wednesday night, these Rutgers students skied down Easton Avenue. Watch the video!

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ — A little snow meant a chance for these Rutgers students to ski the streets of New Brunswick Wednesday evening while the rest of New Jersey was dealing with downed trees, car crashes and power outages.

Ok, so they were getting towed by a car. Jackson Luis and Alex Borgo, president and vice president of the Rutgers Ski and Snowboard Team, told the media it's a new sport called street skiing. Watch one of them shout out "Rutgers Ski and Snowboard Team forever!"

"The hills on campus are small and getting towed let's us go faster," said Luis.

At one point they can also be heard saying, "Oh, there's a cop," and the video aprubtly shuts off. They were stopped by a New Brunswick police officer who asked them if what they were doing was a smart thing to do. Luis and Borgo admitted it was not, and the officer told them to stop, Luis said.

But Luis said people should expect to see Rutgers students skiing "in greater numbers" around town when the next nor'easter hits. Which is hopefully in 2019.
