Things To Do This Weekend In Middlesex County, June 18-20

MIDDLESEX COUNTY, NJ — Summer is officially here, this weekend is Father's Day and also Juneteenth, which celebrates the ending of slavery in the United States.

Here's the best list of what's going on in Middlesex County for the weekend of June 18, 19 and 20, plus some events before it for Juneteenth, now an official New Jersey state holiday:

Thursday, June 17:

New Brunswick: Central Jersey Chapters of NAACP & Arts Institute of Middlesex County Mural Painting at Livingston Ave, Liberty Street, and George Street and in-person ceremony at Monument Square Park in New Brunswick. Mural painting will be done all day, from 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m., with the ceremony beginning at 4 p.m. All are welcome.

Virtual: State Theatre New Jersey presents "An Evening of Dueling Pianos featuring Nate Hopkins and Debbie Tjong" on Thursday, June 17 at 7 p.m. This virtual Pride Month event will be hosted on Zoom by drag queen performer, Victoria Lace. A minimum donation of $15 allows patrons to participate in the event. Proceeds raised support State Theatre’s Community Engagement programs. This will be an audience interactive show of dueling pianos, which will allow audience members to request songs. The event will also include giveaways and special guest appearances. Those who sign up for the event will automatically be entered to win a variety of prizes, including gift certificates to Fiddleheads Restaurant in Jamesburg or Robert’s Florals in Highland Park; the Pride 2021 Everyone is Awesome LEGO set; a $50 Visa gift card, courtesy of Argentino Fiore Law & Advocacy, LLC; State Theatre swag; or State Theatre show tickets.

Perth Amboy: Our Kids Can 5K 11 a.m. race time, 9 a.m. check in. 5K race for adults and children. This fun, social and engaging run/walk costs $5 per person. The proceeds with sponsor a child to attend summer camp or receive free tennis lessons. All children must be accompanied by an adult and everyone must maintain social distancing. East Brunswick: 11 a.m. Live kids' comedy show at the Brunswick Square Mall in East Brunswick! Uncle Vinnie's Comedy Club will host variety of outdoor comedy shows all summer long at Brunswick Square Mall. All shows will be located in the back parking lot, between AMC movies & JCPenneys. Tickets are required, and vary by selection. Please bring your own lawn chair.
