Agencies To Investigate Ocean City Boardwalk Fire
Multiple agencies will be in Ocean City this week to investigate the four-alarm fire that tore through Playland's Castaway Cove on Saturday.

OCEAN CITY, NJ — Multiple agencies will be in Ocean City this week to investigate the Jan. 30 fire that tore through Playland’s Castaway Cove.
The four-alarm fire happened Saturday morning, engulfing the boardwalk structure that includes the Playland's Castaway Cove arcade and offices, Hamburger Construction Company and Dairy Queen, officials said.
Agencies involved in the investigation include the Ocean City Fire Department Investigation Unit, Cape May County Fire Marshal’s Office, Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office and New Jersey State Fire Marshal’s Office, according to a city press release.

Due to the size of the estimated loss, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) National Response Team has also been activated.

The investigation is still in the preliminary stages as the origin and cause of the fire are still unknown.
Authorities urge people to avoid the premises of Castaway Cove during the investigation.
