Amy Kennedy Cancels Events Due To Possible Coronavirus Exposure
The 2nd District candidate tested negative Monday morning for COVID-19.

SOUTH JERSEY — Amy Kennedy, the Democratic candidate for New Jersey's 2nd Congressional District, canceled her remaining public events because of possible coronavirus exposure. Kennedy tested negative for the virus Monday morning, but was close to someone at an outdoor event Saturday who tested positive for COVID-19.
"Out of an abundance of caution, and in line with both Amy’s desire to lead by example and her commitment to protecting public health, she will be canceling all of her in-person events and following state quarantine protocols," Campaign Manager Josh Roesch said in a statement.
Kennedy will continue holding virtual events, and she will get tested again later this week. Both she and the person with COVID-19 wore masks throughout the event, Roesch says.

She will go live on social media at 6:30 p.m. Monday with Martin Luther King III, the son of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
Kennedy is running against incumbent Republican Jeff Van Drew for the House of Representatives. The 2nd District race could become one of New Jersey's closest Congressional elections.

A Stockton University poll released Friday showed Van Drew and Kennedy in a dead heat. Kennedy held a lead of 46 to 45 percent against Van Drew. The margin of error in the poll of 676 likely voters is 3.7 percent.
“Turnout in the final days of mail voting and how the few undecided voters break will decide the race,” said John Froonjian, executive director of the William J. Hughes Center for Public Policy at Stockton University. “Every vote counts, especially in this election.”
