Cape May County high school students invited to FREE Movie Night

Teens can watch Disney's 'Teen Beach Movie' with peers

High school students in Cape May County are invited to a free showing of Disney’s “Teen Beach Movie” on Wednesday, April 21, at 7 p.m. at Harbor Square Theatre in Stone Harbor.

To attend, students must register in advance by visiting www.lthyc.org/movie.

In addition to free admission, students will receive complimentary refreshments and swag bags, all courtesy of event hosts Incorruptible.us and the Lower Township Healthy Youth Coalition (LTHYC). Both groups are community initiatives of Cape Assist, a substance-abuse prevention and treatment agency based in Wildwood.

The event was coordinated by students who chose a well-loved film with a sense of nostalgia. The students all take part in one of the host groups and some students are also members of the Lower Township Students Aligned Fighting Epidemics (S.A.F.E.).

In addition to organizing fun activities, the groups behind the April 21 movie event have a serious purpose.

Incorruptible.us aims to educate students, parents, teachers, and others in Cape May County to the dangers of "Big Tobacco” and the growing prevalence of vaping. The Lower Township Healthy Youth Coalition is dedicated to reducing substance misuse in the municipality. The S.A.F.E. youth task force brings a teen perspective to the local drug crisis and welcomes student members who want to make an impact in their community.

All groups are open to motivated and community-minded high school-age students in Cape May County. The group meets monthly to discuss ideas and collaborate on projects that focus on improving health and awareness, and also participates in fun activities.
