Downed Wire Causes Outages For Thousands In Ocean City
A downed wire at the corner of West Avenue and 24th Street caused power outages Wednesday afternoon for about 2,412 customers in Ocean City.
OCEAN CITY, NJ — More than 2,000 customers lost power Wednesday in Ocean City as a storm passed through, according to Atlantic City Electric.
A downed wire at the corner of West Avenue and 24th Street caused outages for about 2,412 customers around 2 p.m.
Atlantic City Electric restored power for most people between 3 and 4 p.m.

Crews were still on site restoring power for about 44 customers at 8 p.m. Atlantic City Electric expects to restore power by 10 p.m. Wednesday.
Thunderstorms and high winds moved throughout New Jersey on Wednesday as the region continues to battle a heatwave.

Wednesday night: A chance of showers and thunderstorms before 11 p.m., then a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms after midnight. Patchy fog after 4 a.m. Otherwise, cloudy, then gradually becoming partly cloudy, with a low around 68. Southwest wind around 5 mph becoming northwest after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 30 percent.
Thursday: A chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly before 2 p.m. Partly sunny, with a high near 76. Northeast wind 5 to 10 mph increasing to 10 to 15 mph in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 25 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30 percent.
Thursday night: A chance of showers, mainly after 8 p.m. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 63. East wind 10 to 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50 percent.
Friday: A chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 71. East wind around 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50 percent.
Friday night: A chance of showers, mainly before 2 a.m. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 61. Northeast wind 5 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30 percent.
