Election Accommodations After Hurricane Sandy

Cape May County Clerk Rita Marie Fulginiti and the Cape May County Board of Elections make this important voting update just in by executive order:

Electronic Ballots Available to Displaced Voters and 1^st Responders Due to Hurricane Sandy

Voters displaced by Hurricane Sandy’s impact on New Jersey and first responders will be able to vote by electronic means, either by email or fax up to 5 p.m. on Election Day. Voters are directed to call the County Clerk’s Office at 609-465-1013 for further instructions.

Mail-In Ballot Applicants

The deadline for Mail-In Ballot Applicants applying in person, or who authorize a messenger to appear in person with the voter’s completed, signed application, to the County Clerk’s Office has been extended to 4:30 p.m. Monday, November 5.  Voted Mail-In Ballots must be delivered to the Board of Elections by 8 p.m. on Election Day. Mail-In Ballots which are postmarked November 5 or before and received by November 19 will be counted. 

Provisional Voting

New Jersey voters displaced due to Hurricane Sandy may vote by Provisional Ballot at any polling place in New Jersey.  Please be aware that this will allow voters outside their jurisdiction to cast ballots for President/Vice President, statewide candidates and questions but not for local or regional candidates.

New polling place in Ocean City

Due to Hurricane Sandy, one polling place in Ocean City (1-1) will be relocated from the Ocean City Yacht Club to St. Frances Cabrini Church located at 114 Atlantic Avenue in Ocean City. Ocean City's Ward 1, District 1 voters will be directed to vote at St. Frances.

The other 57 polling locations throughout Cape May County will remain the same.  Voters are directed to check their sample ballot for their poll location.

The Cape May County Clerk’s Office and Board of Elections Office are open throughout this weekend to serve you.  Hours are Saturday, Sunday and Monday 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.  On Tuesday, Election Day election offices open at 6:00 a.m.
