Freezing Rain Coming To Ocean City: Updated Forecast
A storm spread a mix of sleet, freezing rain and ice across Ocean City on Thursday. The wintry weather is expected to continue into Friday.
OCEAN CITY, NJ — A storm spread a mix of sleet, freezing rain and ice across Ocean City on Thursday. The wintry weather is expected to continue into Friday. (See updated forecast below.)
The Cape May County Office of Emergency Management has placed all municipalities in Cape May County under a “Code Blue” severe weather advisory for the next four evenings:
- 6 p.m. Feb. 18 to 6 a.m. Feb. 19
- 6 p.m. Feb. 19 to 6 a.m. Feb. 20
- 6 p.m. Feb. 20 to 6 a.m. Feb. 21
- 6 p.m. Feb. 21 to 6 a.m. Feb. 22
According to county officials, “Code Blue” conditions are in effect when the temperature reaches 32 degrees Fahrenheit or below.

In southern Cape May County, Lower Township police announced delays on the Middle Thorofare Bridge for ongoing construction repairs after a small sinkhole opened in the roadway adjacent to the south abutment.

- Thursday night: Rain. Low around 33. Breezy, with a northeast wind 15 to 20 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80 percent. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.
- Friday: Rain before 5pm, then a chance of rain and snow. High near 38. North wind around 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80 percent. Little or no snow accumulation expected.
- Friday night: A chance of rain and snow before 7pm, then a slight chance of snow between 7pm and 1am. Cloudy, then gradually becoming partly cloudy, with a low around 26. Northwest wind 10 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30 percent. Little or no snow accumulation expected.
