Funeral Services Set for Former Miss New Jersey Cara McCollum

A South Jersey memorial service will also be scheduled.

The funeral for former Miss New Jersey Cara McCollum will take place in her hometown of Forrest City, Arkansas, on Sunday.

McCollum died on Monday after she underwent brain surgery following a car crash last week.

McCollum sustained serious head injuries when the 24-year-old Margate resident lost control of her car on Route 55 in Salem County, left the road and hit three trees last week.

She won the Miss New Jersey Pageant in 2013, and is a graduate of Princeton University.

Visitation will be held at the McCollum home on Friday, Feb. 26 from 5 p.m.-7 p.m. or Saturday, Feb. 27 from 5 p.m.-7 p.m.

The funeral service is scheduled for Sunday, Feb. 28 at 2 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church, located at 101 South Izard Street in Forrest City.

If you will be traveling from out of town and would like to stay overnight, there are rooms available at the Holiday Inn Express (870-633-3700). If you are flying in from another state, we recommend flying into Memphis, TN . Forrest City is a 45-minute drive on Interstate 40 West.

There are plans for a memorial service in South Jersey, but they have not yet been released, according to literock969.com.
