OCEAN CITY, NJ — A fire caused extensive damage to a mixed-use building in Ocean City on Thursday night, city spokesperson Doug Bergen said.
Firefighters responded to a structure fire at 1059 Asbury Ave. just before midnight, Bergen said Friday in a news release.
Authorities first saw a light haze of smoke in the upper floors of the building and then found fire in the exterior walls. The fire spread rapidly due to the age and construction of the building, Bergen said.
