Longtime Ocean City Post Office Employee Dies

William 'Pirate' Delaney will rest in peace in his favorite place: the ocean.

OCEAN CITY, NJ — William "Pirate" Delaney, who worked at the Post Office in Ocean City for 35 years, died Aug. 24. Delaney raised his family in Somers Point before retiring with his wife, Claire, in Sebastian, Florida, according to his obituary.

Delaney, 81, was born in Philadelphia. "Pirate" was known for the name of his boat. He lived a fun-filled life and brought a big smile everywhere he went, according to his obituary.

"First and foremost he was an amazing father & husband, but he will be remembered equally for his love of the ocean and his unrivaled passion for fishing," his obituary says. "He spent most of his life on his boat and took great pleasure catching fish with family and friends."
