Nor'easter Impacts In Ocean City: School Updates, Forecast
A mix of rain, snow and surging tides continued to impact Ocean City on Monday, causing severe flooding and school closures.

OCEAN CITY, NJ — A mix of rain, snow and surging tides continued to impact Ocean City on Monday, causing severe flooding and school closures on Monday and Tuesday.
The NWS placed Ocean City under a coastal flood warning through Tuesday at 5 p.m. and a winter storm warning until 1 p.m. Tuesday.
Officials observed a water level of 6.6 feet on the mean low water scale at 11:30 a.m. Monday on the bay side of Ocean City, exceeding the 6.3-foot threshold for "moderate" flooding. Forecasters expect the tide to reach 7 feet at 11:15 p.m. Monday.

Several residents posted pictures of flooded streets on the Ocean City, NJ Flooding Facebook group, run by the Ocean City, NJ Flooding Committee, a civilian group and a chapter of Higher Ground.
Officials advised residents to move vehicles from areas that typically experience tidal flooding.

The roads closer to the beach, including Central and Wesley avenues, are typically at higher elevation. Parking is also available at the Trinity United Methodist Church at 20 North Shore Road in Marmora.
Never attempt to drive through flood waters, and don't drive through barricades. For emergencies, call 911. For non-emergencies, call 609-399-9111.
The Ocean City School District announced that schools will use virtual instruction Monday due to the forecasted storm. The district announced they will also utilize virtual instruction on Tuesday. Students should check PowerSchool for more information.
Here's the NWS's forecast for Ocean City as of 1 p.m. Monday:
Monday afternoon: Rain likely, mainly before 2pm. Cloudy, with a high near 40. Breezy, with a north wind around 25 mph, with gusts as high as 45 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60 percent. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.
Monday night: Rain, snow, and sleet likely before 3am, then a chance of snow and sleet between 3am and 4am, then a chance of snow after 4am. Cloudy, with a low around 30. Blustery, with a north wind 15 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 35 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60 percent. New snow and sleet accumulation of less than a half inch possible.
Tuesday: Snow likely before 2pm, then a chance of rain and snow. Cloudy, with a high near 36. Northwest wind around 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60 percent. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.
Tuesday night: A chance of snow before 8pm, then a chance of snow showers between 8pm and 2am. Cloudy, with a low around 25. Northwest wind 10 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40 percent. Little or no snow accumulation expected.
