Ocean City Dispatcher Battling Cancer Gets Surprise Roof Repair

OCEAN CITY, NJ — Anyone is lucky to have a roof over their head during the holidays. For Ocean City 911 dispatcher Amber Adoranto, that took on a different meaning.

Adoranto has been battling breast cancer. On top of that, her Upper Township home needed a completely new roof.

The Ocean City Police Department reached out to Action Creations Roofing & Siding a few days ago, asking if they could help with her roofing matters.

"She had some wind damage, and her roof was really old already," Action Creations's Nick Frucelli told Patch. "It was ready to be replaced."

Action Creations met with Adoranto to offer their services. Adoranto planned to use her tax refund to pay for a new roof, but Action Creations took the project many steps further.

The roofing company completed the new roof for free Monday. They rushed to make breast-cancer awareness hoodies to wear during construction. And they also brought gifts for Adoranto's 9-year-old daughter and 3-year-old son, according to NBC 10 Philadelphia.

Before that morning, Adoranto only knew that she was getting roof repairs. Members of Action Creations and OCPD met in a nearby park and then pulled up to her home to unveil the surprises and decrease her worries.

"I think she was shocked," Frucelli said. "She kept telling us all day yesterday how grateful she was for the whole thing."
