Ocean City Library Event On Historic Philadelphia Ballfields
A frequent Cooperstown speaker will discuss Philadelphia ballparks and their neighborhoods from 1860 to the present.

OCEAN CITY, NJ — The Ocean City Free Public Library will host a lesson on historic ballfields in Philadelphia and their neighborhoods. The event takes place at 6:30 p.m. June 19 in the library's Chris Maloney Lecture Hall.
Presenter Dr. Jerrold Casway is a frequent speaker at the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown. The Cape May Court House resident will discuss the historic development of Philadelphia ballparks, why they were put there and the impact they had on their communities and neighborhoods.
Casway is a professor and academic dean Emeritus from Howard Community College in Columbia, Maryland. He has written four books. His latest work, "The Culture and Ethnicity of 19th-Century Baseball," will be available after the presentation.

The author has also published over 70 articles on topics including 19th century baseball, Philadelphia ballparks and early modern Ireland. One of Casway's books includes "Ed Delahanty in the Emerald Age of Baseball," which discusses the former Philly (1888-1901) and his untimely death in 1903.
