Ocean City Police To Host Bicycle Safety Event For Kids

Ocean City police are hosting a bicycle skills and safety event for Ocean City youth and students in the city's school district on Wednesday

OCEAN CITY, NJ — The Ocean City Police Department is sponsoring a bicycle skills and safety event for Ocean City youth and students in the city’s school district on Wednesday.

Registration opens at 4 p.m. in the Ocean City Civic Center parking lot at Fifth Street and Boardwalk.

After large groups of young bike riders were reportedly riding recklessly and causing issues in town, city officials partnered with parents to plan an event that would promote bike safety.

The Community Policing Unit will make a bicycle safety presentation during the event.

There will also be a skills competition for wheelies and freestyles with gift cards as prizes for the longest wheelies.

Pizza and soda will be provided by the 6th Street Pizza and Grill.

Attendees will be entered to win a $1,000 SE Monster Ripper 29” bicycle donated by the Tuckahoe Bike Shop.
