Ocean City Slowly Regaining Power After Tropical Storm Isaias

Only about 1,000 remain without power, but restoration could take days for some.

OCEAN CITY, NJ — Atlantic City Electric is working to restore power Wednesday in Ocean City, a day after Tropical Storm Isaias tore through the area. Only 1,022 customers remain affected, but restoration could take days for some, according to ACE.

The storm impacted 209,000 ACE customers, but nearly 140,000 have regained power as of 11:30 a.m. Wednesday. About 4 percent of Ocean City customers still lack power as of that time.

ACE projects restoration for 372 by Thursday, 670 by Friday and the remaining 50 by Saturday. Click here for the outage map.

The company will continue to update estimated restoration times as crews assess additional damage and make repairs. Many customers with estimated restoration for Thursday will regain power Wednesday, ACE says.

"We will continue to work around the clock until every customer is restored," said ACE Regional President Gary Stockbridge. "This storm was incredibly destructive, and we will continue to keep our customers informed as we complete our assessments of the damage."

A tornado passed through the Ocean City area Tuesday morning, according to the National Weather Service. Ocean City had the greatest observed winds in New Jersey, reaching 72 mph, according to New Jersey 101.5 meteorologist Dan Zarrow.
