Services Set For Longtime Ocean City Resident
Tommy Miles Jr., 79, lived in Ocean City for 57 years. He was honored at this year's Juneteenth Celebration.
OCEAN CITY, NJ — Tommy Miles Jr. used to drive slowly throughout Ocean City, greeting everyone with a smile or a handshake. He lived in town for 57 years, according to Mayor Jay Gillian.
Miles died last Tuesday at age 79. When Miles first moved to Ocean City, he worked at Bob's Seafood and Peter Granger Cleaning Services for many years, according to his obituary.
He owned and managed rental properties throughout Cape May and Atlantic County. He also co-owned The Bean House Restaurant for three years. Miles retired from the city recreation department after 30 years and was the owner of Tommy Miles Window Cleaning & Painting.

Miles and his wife, Mary, were honored at this year's Juneteenth Celebration with the Business Leadership Award. The award recognizes their contributions to the economic viability and charitable service of Ocean City's black community.
He was known by many as Boss, Bossman, T, The Governor, Daddy-O, Mr. Tommy, Pop-Pop and affectionately called by his wife, "Honey," according to his obituary.

A viewing will take place at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Shiloh Baptist Church (7th and Simpson). Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Ocean City Tabernacle (550 Wesley Ave.). Interment will follow in Seaside Cemetary in Marmora.
