SOMERS POINT, NJ — The Somers Point Beach Concert Series, which has taken place for 27 years, won't take place this summer because of the coronavirus.

Organizers attempted to put on a limited concert series for late summer and early fall, according to their website. But without certainty on New Jersey's crowd limits for the coming months, the concert series has been canceled for this year.

Governor Phil Murphy raised the limit on outdoor gatherings May 22 from 10 to 25 people, so long as social distancing remains in place. But the restrictions still put significant limits on indoor and outdoor concerts. Read more: Gov. Murphy Allows Bigger Gatherings, NJ Coronavirus Reopenings

"With so much tragedy and suffering in the world it seems almost regrettable, as though we need to apologize for the anguish and sorrow that we are experiencing in making this announcement that all 27 of our concerts are now officially canceled in 2020," the concert series website says.
