'Somers Point's Best-Kept Secret' Closes After 20 Years

SOMERS POINT, NJ — A restaurant that called itself "Somers Point's best-kept secret" closed down. The Breakfast Shop operated for 20 years behind Smitty's Clam Bar at 910 Bay Ave.

The Breakfast Shop announced the closure Monday on its Facebook page.

"Although this decision is a good one, it does not come easy," the business said. "We have taken a lot of pride in this shop and have made lots of meaningful relationships with vendors, staff and customers and truly value the lifelong friends along the way."

The Breakfast Shop was open year-round from 6 a.m. to noon every day, offering waterfront views and food from scratch. They also allowed customers to bring wine, beer and champagne. Popular items included the homemade cinnamon buns that they made on Thursdays.
