OCEAN CITY, NJ — Amid declining membership, the South Ocean City Improvement Association (SOCIA) is looking for new volunteers to help plan events and activities.
SOCIA supports many civic and social activities in the south end of Ocean City, including the Fourth of July bike parade, beach concerts and fundraisers.
SOCIA was founded over 100 years ago and once boasted 350 members at its peak, according to SOCIA’s secretary Phyllis Bonner.

The organization's membership has declined over the last two decades, with less than 75 contributing members now.
SOCIA's Board of Directors is considering the potential dissolution of the organization as finding volunteers remains a challenge.
