Stormwater Piping In Ocean City To Be Replaced Next Week

Work is scheduled to run from Sept. 24-28.

OCEAN CITY, NJ — Landberg Construction has been contracted by the county to replace the existing storm sewer crossing at the intersection of 41st Street and West Avenue on Monday, Sept. 24, Ocean City officials announced this week.

Due to the need to dewater the site, West Avenue will be closed with a two-block detour to Asbury Avenue between 40th Street and 42nd Street. The road will be reopened at the conclusion of work, which is currently scheduled for Friday, Sept. 28.

“The purpose of the work is to upgrade the existing county pipe crossings so that they more efficiently move storm water from the east to the west, since the city system from the east has been upgraded recently,” officials said. “Currently the county system is undersized and acts as a bottleneck for the storm flow.”

This work was originally scheduled for last May, but the pipe was back ordered and unavailable at the time of the planned construction.
