Update: The bridge has reopened, police announced at about 5:25 p.m.

SEA ISLE CITY, NJ — The Townsends Inlet Bridge is temporarily closed on the Avalon side because of flooding. Sea Isle City police made the announcement at about 11:30 a.m. Thursday.

The National Weather Service issued a Coastal Flood Advisory for the area. It will run through 4 p.m. Thursday in Ocean City.

Water levels are expected to peak around high tide on the bay side of Ocean City at 12:34 p.m. Forecasters project a tide of 5.8 feet on the mean low water scale, which falls into the category of "minor" flooding.
