Two Ocean City Coaches Earn State, Regional Awards
Boys track coach Matt Purdue and boys swimming coach Shane McGrath both received honors.

OCEAN CITY, N.J. — Two Ocean City High School coaches recently earned state and regional accolades. Shane McGrath was named the South Jersey Interscholastic Swimming Association's Boys Swimming Coach of the Year.
Matt Purdue, meanwhile, was honored by the New Jersey Scholastic Coaches Association for earning Spring Boys Track Coach of the Year for the 2017-18 seasons.

Nate Hays, Ethan McCarron, Peter Horowitz and Ben Wiley clinched the 200-meter medley relay with 1 minute, 52.46 seconds. Hays won the 200 individual relay with 2:10.03, while Dolan Grisbaum broke the 400 freestyle school record with a second-place finish at 4:12.07.
Last season, the Ocean City boys and girls outdoor track teams both earned Cape May County titles. The boys team won eight events and took the team title with 163 points, while the girls earned the county title for the 39th straight time, according to The Press.
