WATCH: Humpback Whale Swims Near Ocean City Beaches

Whale experts say, stay away! Below are two videos showing its appearances.

He’s a rambling, gambling whale.

And even though the mammal’s swimming close to Jersey Shore shoreline, stay away from him!

A baby humpback has been lurking in shallow water this week, swimming off Point Pleasant Beach, Ocean City and Island Beach State Park and Point Pleasant Beach.

At least two videos have been posted to social media showing the whale rolling around in the surf just a few feet from the beaches as birds fly nearby.

The Marine Mammal Stranding Center in Brigantine issued a statement on Facebook after the sightings:

“It is illegal to harass these whales, and they were feeding in very shallow waters, so taking a boat out to them would have been against federal regulations. Humpback whales are common to NJ, and are often seen feeding close to shore. They are protected under the Marine Mammal Protection Act. View from a distance, and enjoy!

These marine mammals are usually identified by their enormous size, majestic whale songs and their aerial acrobatic abilities, such as their ability to continuously breach the water in spite of their large bodies. An adult humpback whale can grow to an average length of 40-60 ft. long and weigh as much as 44 tons, according to whalefacts.org.
