Attilio P. DeSimone, World War II Air Force veteran, dies at 89

Services for Shrewsbury resident will be held on Thursday and Friday

Attilio P. DeSimone of Shrewsbury Township, died Monday, February 26, 2018. He was 89.

He was born in the Bronx and moved to Shrewsbury Township in 1966.

He was a clerk for the U.S .Postal Service in Red Bank before retiring in 1989.

He was a communicant of St. Dorothea's Roman Catholic Church in Eatontown and a member of the Knights of Columbus Council in Red Bank and the BPO Elks Lodge 233 in Red Bank.

He served in the Air Force during World War II. He was an avid NY Yankees fan and enjoyed traveling and his grandsons.

He was predeceased by his wife, Elaine in 1992.

Surviving are his sons, Robert and his wife Colleen and Stephan DeSimone; sister, Olga Carlucci and two grandsons, Robbie and Kevin.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday at the Fiore Funeral Home, 882 Broadway, West Long Branch. A funeral Mass will be offered at 10 a.m. on Friday at St. Dorothea's Church in Eatontown, followed by burial at Shoreland Memorial Gardens in Hazlet.
