Chairman of Pregnancy and Health Center Dies at 47

Memorial service and reception for Bruce Comins, Jr. is Saturday, Aug. 3 in Old Bridge.

On Tuesday, July 23rd, surrounded by his family and in the arms of his caring and loving wife of 20 years, Bruce L. Comins Jr., 47, of Eatontown peacefully went home to be with the Lord. 

Bruce was born Sept. 3, 1965 at Griffiss Air Force Base in Rome, N.Y., and grew up in Ava, N.Y. He graduated from State University of N.Y. at Canton with a degree in construction engineering. He had the joy of working from home as a professional estimator enabling him to spend quality time with his remarkable sons, Joshua and Zachary. 

Bruce had a positive impact on the lives of his sons and so many others, most of all his nieces and nephews, Justin, Patrick, Jake, Cara, Luke, Elena, Hunter and Chase. 

Bruce loved God and loved people. He demonstrated his love by serving as Chairman of the Board of Solutions Pregnancy and Health Center of Shrewsbury, N.J. for over 13 years. 

He was the founding member and an elder with Riders For Christ Motorcycle Ministry and spent time as a missionary with Takin’ it 2 the Streets, touching so many in Scotland, Ecuador, Guyana, Africa, Dominican Republic, and the United States. Bruce was a faithful and loyal member of Calvary Chapel in Old Bridge N.J. and lived his life in a way that had an eternal impact on those he met. 

He was an amazing dad, husband, son, grandson, brother, son-in-law, brother-in-law, uncle, cousin, friend, and quite the handyman.

 He is survived by his beloved wife Carol Paxton Comins; his sons Joshua and Zachary; mother Deborah J. Owens-Cook and husband George W. Cook; father Bruce L. Comins and partner Linda McDonald; grandmother Frances A. Owens; sister Kimberly A. Podkowka and husband Todd; special uncle Wayne W. Owens; mother-in law, Jo Paxton; sister- and brother-in-laws Patty and Bernie Brock, Cathy and Mark Marchesani, and Michelle and Jim Dunne; aunts and cousins. 

A memorial service and reception to celebrate Bruce’s life will beheld on Saturday, Aug. 3 at Calvary Chapel Old Bridge beginning at 11 a.m. 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to an educational fund to benefit his sons Joshua and Zachary. Checks can be made payable to Carol Paxton Comins, c/o Old Bridge Funeral Home, 2350 CR 516, Old Bridge, NJ 08857.
