
Red Bank resident Ruth S. Upton passed away peacefully at her home on Nov. 11. She was 95.
Born in New York City, Ruth lived most of her life in NJ. She was a past parishioner, lector, and frequent volunteer at St. Philomena's R.C. Church, in Livingston, and St Peter's R.C. Church, in Point Pleasant.
After moving to Red Bank in 2000, she continued her volunteer work at the Atrium at Navesink Harbor. For many years, she taught first grade at Aquinas Academy in Livingston.
Ruth was predeceased by: her beloved husband of 60 years, Francis, in 2002; and her siblings, Edward, Theresa and Marion.
She is survived by: her loving children, Jane Sullivan and husband Michael, of Middletown, and Thomas Upton and wife Linda, of Chester; grandchildren, Jennifer, William, Daniel, Elizabeth, Kate, Matthew and Gregory. She is also survived by two great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will take place at John E. Day Funeral Home, 85 Riverside Ave., Red Bank, on Wednesday, Nov. 13, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., with a Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday at 10 a.m. at St. James R.C. Church, Red Bank.
Interment will follow at St. Catherine's Cemetery in Sea Girt. Donations can be made in Ruth's memory to a charity of choice. Please visit her memorial website at www.johnedayfuneralhome.com.
