Men Stole Thousands During Burglaries In 9 Towns, Including South Brunswick, Indictment Says

Two New York men stole more than $850,000 in cash and jewelry during burglaries in nine communities, authorities said.

Two New York men stole more than $850,000 in cash and jewelry during burglaries in nine communities, including South Brunswick, authorities said.

A grand jury, sitting in Middlesex County, handed up an indictment on Sept. 29, charging the men with participating in the series of burglaries, according to a news release from Middlesex County Prosecutor Andrew C. Carey.

Felix Bruno, 33, and Anthony Goodwine, 50, both of the Bronx, are accused of committing the burglaries between Dec. 12, 2013 and Aug. 18, 2014.

There are a total of 142 counts in the indictment. Both men are facing 25 counts, charging them with “committing the burglaries in concert.”

Bruno is charged separately with another 113 counts. Goodwine is charged with four separate counts that charge that he was involved in four burglaries without help from his co-defendant.

A total of 65 burglaries were committed by one or both of the defendants in Edison, East Brunswick, South Brunswick, Piscataway, Old Bridge, North Brunswick, South Plainfield and Milltown in Middlesex County.

Two other burglaries occurred in Livingston, but those cases were transferred to Middlesex County after authorities determined the two men were responsible.

Both men are charged with conspiracy, theft by unlawful taking, and burglary. They are also charged with resisting arrest because they tried to flee when police attempted to take them into custody on Aug. 19, 2014.

Bruno is also charged with burglary, theft by deception, two counts of unlawful possession of a .22-caliber handgun and criminal mischief for damaging the properties of two residents while committing burglaries.

Goodwine was charged separately with burglary and theft by deception for four burglaries he committed without his co-defendant.

Both men are being held at the Middlesex County Adult Corrections Center in North Brunswick.

Middlesex County Assistant Prosecutor Lorraine Sult handled the state’s case.
