Accidental Fire Destroys Home In Holiday City In Toms River

There were no injuries in the fire, a Toms River fire official said.

TOMS RIVER, NJ ? A fire that destroyed a home in the Holiday City section of Toms River on Sunday was caused by improperly discarded smoking materials, a Toms River fire official said Monday.

There were no injuries in the fire that was reported at 7:55 a.m. Sunday on Hovsons Boulevard, said Matthew Janora, chief inspector with the Toms River Bureau of Fire Prevention.

Silverton Fire Company firefighters found smoke and flames coming from the rear of the home when they arrived but got it under control in about 20 minutes, Janora said.

Janora said the fire appeared to be accidental, caused by improperly discarded smoking materials.

The fire is being investigated by Inspector Kevin Britton of the Toms River Bureau of Fire Prevention.
