Candidates Sought For Beachwood Seat On Toms River School Board

BEACHWOOD, NJ ? The Toms River Regional Board of Education is accepting applications to fill the seat representing Beachwood on the school board, after Melissa Morrison resigned from her seat in July.

The term of the vacancy is September 2024 through December 2025. Only Beachwood residents who meet the legal requirements of N.J.S.A. 18A:12-1 are eligible to apply.

Applications are available on the board?s website and at the Board of Education office at Suite 304, 1144 Hooper Ave., Toms River, NJ 08753. All applications must be submitted to the Toms River Regional Schools Board President at the following address: Suite 304, 1144 Hooper Ave., Toms River, NJ 08753 by 3 p.m. on Aug. 19, 2024.

The requirements are as follows:

"Each member of any board of education shall be a citizen and resident of the district, or of such constituent district of a consolidated or regional district as may be required by law, and shall have been such for at least one year immediately preceding his appointment or election, he shall be able to read and write, shall be registered to vote in the district, and, notwithstanding the provisions of N.J.S.2C:51-1 or any other law to the contrary, he is not disqualified as a voter pursuant to R.S.19:4-1," and has not been convicted of a first- or second-degree crime.

The applicant shall also submit with this application:

  • A. Letter of Interest from Applicant,
  • B. Resume of Application,
  • C. A Minimum of Three (3) letters of recommendation from bona fide residents of the Borough of Beachwood

The Board of Education will review all timely submitted applications and will implement a screening process to fill the Beachwood Board Member vacancy.
