Coastal Flood Watch In Effect In Ocean County

Runoff from rain overnight combined with tides may cause some issues, the National Weather Service said.

OCEAN COUNTY, NJ ? The rain has turned to a drizzle, but some effects of the overnight storm are lingering Thursday as a coastal flood watch is in effect, the National Weather Service said.

The watch is in effect until 1 p.m. Thursday as the combination of runoff and high tides may inundate low-lying areas along the bays and the ocean, according to forecasters at the Mount Holly office. Up to 1 foot of water above ground level is possible, the weather service said.

High tide in the Toms River is 12:29 p.m. Oceanfront high tide was just before 9 a.m. Thursday and the evening high tide is 9:28 p.m.
