Fatal Stabbing Under Investigation In Toms River

TOMS RIVER, NJ ? Authorities are investigating a fatal stabbing that happened Friday morning in Toms River, the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office confirmed.

A second person was injured, News 12 New Jersey reported, citing unnamed sources.

Law enforcement had not identified the victim who died as of 7:30 p.m. Friday.

The stabbing was reported about 7:20 a.m. on Adams Avenue, Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer said.

"This is an active and ongoing investigation, and there is no known danger to the public at this time. We will release more information as it becomes available," Billhimer stated.

Anyone with information regarding this investigation is urged to contact the Ocean County Prosecutor?s Office Major Crime Unit at 732-929-2027, or the Toms River Township Police Department at 732-349-0150, the prosecutor's office said.

The Lakewood Scoop reported one person has been arrested, but the prosecutor's office did not comment on that report. Video published by the Scoop shows a person lying on the ground with three Toms River police vehicles nearby. Reports said that arrest happened on Whitesville Road.

The Prosecutor?s Office Major Crime Unit, Toms River police and the Ocean County Sheriff?s Office Crime Scene Investigation Unit are investigating.
