Fire Destroys Silverton Home Left Vacant After Sandy
No one was injured in the early Saturday morning blaze.
A Silverton home left vacant after Hurricane Sandy was destroyed by fire early Saturday morning, according to Toms River Police Chief Michael Mastronardy.
Toms River police responded to reports of a fire at the property, located at 40 By Point Drive in the Silverton section of Toms River. When they arrived on scene at approximately 2 a.m. they found a fully involved structural fire.
Several nearby fire companies responded to the blaze, including Silverton, Toms River 1 and 2, Pleasant Plains, and East Dover Fire Companies, according to Mastronardy.

Together, the fire crews were able to place the fire under control just after 3 a.m.
According to Mastronardy, the two and a half story home, like many on the same street, has been vacant since Sandy. The house was completely destroyed by the fire.

There were no reported injuries, Mastronardy said.
The cause of the fire is currently unknown. Det. Thomas Dimichele along with Toms River Fire Prevention and the Ocean County Sheriff's Department are investigating the fire.
