Football Season Kicks Off For Toms River East
New Jersey's 2023 high school football season begins Friday. The Toms River East Raiders are ready for the new challenge.
TOMS RIVER, NJ ? The waning days of August are usually reserved for last-licks trips to the beach, hanging out with friends and soaking in the last bits of summer.
In 2023, however, summer is ending a little bit earlier for high school football teams, including Toms River East.
The season kicks off Friday night, Aug. 25, as the NJSIAA ? the governing body for high school sports in New Jersey ? made adjustments to the start of the season to accommodate an expanded playoff season.

Toms River East, under coach Kyle Sandberg, is looking to improve on its 2022 season, where the Raiders finished 3-7.

- Aug. 25 at Brick Township, 6 p.m.
- Sept. 1 vs. Toms River North, 6 p.m.
- Sept. 8 at Central Regional, 6 p.m.
- Sept. 15 vs. Toms River South, 6 p.m.
- Sept. 22 at Pinelands, 6 p.m.
- Sept. 29 vs. Lakewood, 6 p.m.
- Oct. 6 vs. Monmouth, 6:30 p.m.
- Oct. 13 at Point Pleasant Beach, 7 p.m.
