Football Season Kicks Off For Toms River North
New Jersey's 2023 high school football season begins Friday. The Toms River North Mariners are ready for the new challenge.
TOMS RIVER, NJ ? The waning days of August are usually reserved for last-licks trips to the beach, hanging out with friends and soaking in the last bits of summer.
In 2023, however, summer is ending a little bit earlier for high school football teams, including Toms River North.
The season kicks off Friday night, Aug. 25, as the NJSIAA ? the governing body for high school sports in New Jersey ? made adjustments to the start of the season to accommodate an expanded playoff season.

Toms River North, under coach Dave Oizerowitz, is looking to build on its 2022 season. The Mariners were undefeated, going 14-0 en route to winning the NJSIAA South Jersey Group 4 and the overall Group 4 championships.

- Sept. 1 at Toms River East, 6 p.m.
- Sept. 8 at Rumson-Fair Haven, 7 p.m.
- Sept. 15 at Donovan Catholic, 6:30 p.m.
- Sept. 22 vs. Middletown South, 7 p.m.
- Sept. 29 at Southern, 7 p.m.
- Oct. 6 vs. Wall, 7 p.m.
- Oct. 13 vs. Toms River South, 6 p.m.
- Oct. 20 vs. Red Bank Catholic, 6 p.m.
