Founders Day Celebration Postponed In Toms River

Rain and thunderstorms predicted have led to the postponement, officials said.

TOMS RIVER, NJ ? The Founders Day celebration that had been scheduled for Saturday in downtown Toms River has been postponed, township officials announced.

The celebration, which was returning after a hiatus of several years, has been canceled for Saturday because of rain and thunderstorms in the forecast, Toms River officials said.

"We will be rescheduling the event again for a future date in June," the announcement said.

The event was to include a parade, kids rides and vendors selling food and crafts, booths providing information and a beer tent, officials said.
