Gunshots Fired During Large Fight At Toms River Hotel Lot: Police

Multiple neighboring police departments assisted while Toms River police investigated the fight, which happened at a Route 37 hotel.

TOMS RIVER, NJ ? Toms River police are continuing to investigate after gunshots were fired during a large fight in a hotel parking lot on Route 37.

Police responded to the fight reported at about 12:45 a.m. Sunday at the Days Hotel on Route 37, said Jillian Messina, media relations specialist for the Toms River Police Department.

As police were responding, they were notified someone had fired a gun, she said. At the scene police found evidence of the gunfire but no one had been shot, she said.

One man suffered a seizure during the fight and was taken to Community Medical Center in Toms River by the Silverton First Aid squad, Messina said.

It was not immediately known how many people were involved in the fight or how long it took to disperse it.

The Ocean County Sheriff's Department CSI unit responded, and Toms River received assistance from Manchester, Island Heights, Berkeley Township, South Toms River, Jackson, Brick, Seaside Heights and Lavallette police departments, which responded to other calls while Toms River police dealt with the fight, Messina said.
