Rain will progress from west to east into Tuesday night, according to AccuWeather. "The heaviest rain, which could come in a couple of rounds, is likely to focus on the Interstate-95 corridor from northeastern North Carolina to Maine and seems likely to average 2-4 inches with locally higher amounts," AccuWeather Senior Meteorologist Alex Sosnowski said on the service's website.

Travel delays can be expected and outdoor plans may need to switch indoors through the middle of the week, according to AccuWeather. Several rounds of rain could be beneficial to parts of the region, but rainfall is likely to be heavy enough for flooding to become a concern, according to AccuWeather.
